IAC 2023 Awareness Session and Exhibition of Azersky Satellite Images hosted by MFA

On May 26, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted an awareness session dedicated to the 74th International Astronautical Congress as well as an exhibition of "Azersky" satellite images, which were jointly organized by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport and the Space Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Azerkosmos).

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elnur Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Farid Ahmadov, Deputy Chairman of Azerkosmos Dunay Badirkhanov as well as representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in the Republic of Azerbaijan and mass media.

Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov delivered the opening speech at the event and extended his congratulations on the occasion of 28th May - Independence Day. Deputy Minister noted that Azerbaijan won the right to host the 74th International Astronautical Congress despite the fact that Azerbaijan is a relatively new member of the global space community; this great success is a result of achievements the country reached in this field including successful satellite projects. Elnur Mammadov highlighted that  Azerbaijan would host this prestigious event second time and noted that 24th International Astronautical Congress was held in Baku 50 years ago for the first time in 1973 under the leadership of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

Deputy Minister Farid Ahmadov emphasized that the main focus of the 74th International Astronautical Congress, which will bring together experts and leaders of the international space community, is the youth. Farid Ahmadov noted that the Congress was aimed at attracting more young specialists and students to the space industry and science.

Dunay Badirkhanov made a presentation on the 74th International Astronautical Congress to be held on October 2-6, 2023. By providing the detailed agenda of Congress, Deputy Chairman of Azercosmos noted that the 74th International Astronautical Congress would bring together around 6,000 participants and create opportunities for cooperation at the regional and international levels.

Later, the participants of the event got acquainted with the exhibition dedicated of "Azersky" satellite images.
