The heart of Azerbaijan’s satellite operations, the Main Satellite Ground Control Station of Azercosmos was opened in 2013 and coincided with the launch of the first satellite of Azerbaijan – Azerspace-1. The architectural idea of the building symbolizes the collision of the falling celestial body with a piece of rock and the division of the rock into four parts. Today, the Ground Station of Azercosmos, located on the 37th km of the Baku-Shamakhi highway, is the nexus of daily satellite operations, ensuring continuous and secure delivery and transmission of satellite data. It is also home of the Baku Teleport and other infrastructure that is critical for the space activities of Azerbaijan. The tour will take you into the very peculiarities of the Station’s daily activities and get you acquainted with how Azerbaijan’s space ecosystem works at its epicentre.
