The IAC 2023 to Cover the Record-breaking Number of Countries in the History
More than 3530 abstracts have been received for the 74th International Astronautical Congress to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan on 2-6 October 2023, propelling the IAC 2023 as the World’s Premier Global Space Event together with the IAC 2022 (Paris, France), the IAC 2019 (Washington D.C., United States) and the IAC 2018 (Bremen, Germany).
The IAC 2023 Call for Abstracts performance reveals the profound dedication of the global space community to the congress theme “Give Space a Chance”. Abstracts have been submitted from an outstanding collection of potential presenters and topped Baku with a record-breaking number in the IAC history covering 95 countries!
By submitting 214 abstracts, Azerbaijan has broken a national record and ranked among the top-5 countries along with the United States, Italy, India and China.
“The exceptional results illustrate the global nature of the space community and strongly confirms our commitment to fostering inclusion and diversity at the IAC – our hope remains strong as we believe that each of us can bring positive impact for space and for the benefit of humanity,” – the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) says highlighting results of the IAC 2023 Call for papers.
Chairman of the Board of the Space Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Samaddin Asadov commented: “Our country has made a significant progress this year in the number of abstracts submitted to the IAC which is clear evidence of Azerbaijan’s investment in human capital and growing success in development of science, research and tech industry.
We are delighted and extremely proud to see Azerbaijan among the top countries with an active space presence and we believe the IAC 2023 will encourage, foster and facilitate engagement of next generation into the global discussion of developments and challenges in space industry. We look forward to seeing all authors of papers at the IAC 2023 in Baku!”
The International Programme Committee of IAF is already well underway with the difficult task of reviewing all abstracts and deciding who will be selected to present and in which of the two session formats – Technical Sessions or Interactive Presentation Sessions.
To make a travel to Baku easier and even reasonably priced, a single booking platform has been launched to offer exclusive rates for airfare and accommodation for the participants of the 74th IAC. In particular, the platform provides an affordable “Youth Accommodation” designed specifically for the representatives of the next generation for special price – just 29 euro per night (applicants have to be between 18 and 35 years old on 1st October 2023).
